Green Vision Group
The Spring has seen two meetings of the Green Vision Group and our plans and ambitions for a more environmentally Church Centre is moving on at a pace but always within our resources.
The replacement doors should soon be in place giving a more welcoming approach to visitors as well as keeping out the winter draughts.
Following another flood from a burst main we will need to replace some flooring with an insurance claim but we would like to retile the corridor with eco friendly manufactured lino or tiles.
Whilst we would like to double glaze all our doors and windows that is out of reach at the moment so all appropriate gaps are being draught proofed for the coming winter winds
Users of the toilets will have noted the energy saving auto switches and the gentlemen will be aware that urinal flushes are equally auto controlled showing a massive saving of water.
Suitable bricks are to be installed in the cisterns of all the toilets thus offering further savings.
We have investigated Green Electric suppliers but cost seem restrictive but this is to be pursued further.
Further recycling projects for cans, paper, postage stamps, cleaning products, mobile phones and garden compost are afoot.
0ur biggest project concerns the installation of Polyvoltaic panels to produce our own electricity and solar panels for the hot water. This should be preceded by roof insulation and the installation of roof lights to improve the quality of light during the day thus saving electricity.
This is an expensive project but grants are available but not necessarily on demand.
We have decided to write a Project Outline to get our plans clear and then invite various interested parties to write our bids on a no win no fee basis.
TRAIDCRAFT - a fair deal for poor farmers
As we now have a cupboard on wheels, we are planning to move into a new phase with Traidcraft, with a small stall every two weeks, STARTING TODAY 1 JUNE. Please be patient as we try to iron out any problems with the new system. The cupboard will not always have the whole range, but we expect to get into a regular cycle of ordering, so you will know well in advance when we will have the full range, and so you can make your own orders too.
The lower shelves of the cupboard are very low for some people, but Alys or Daniela should be able to help you find what you need.
Don't forget you can BUY NOW PAY A WEEK LATER, but if you are doing that tell us before we start adding up your shopping so that we can write an invoice for you, or do one on the computer when it's available.
Shopping at Traidcraft is the TASTIEST way of helping very poor, very hard-working farming families in countries disadvantaged by a crazy world economic system.
