The textual similarities of the Gospels of Matthew and Luke have persuaded scholars that they used either an earlier common document, or two separate versions of it. This is known as "Q" for Quelle (meaning "source”).

For many years Peter Sewell had dreamed of working on the problem which "Q " presented. From advanced theological understanding he went on to deeper studies in New Testament Greek, adding Aramaic and enough German to aid his research. He pursued the complexities of Statistics, Computer Science and Linguistics. Alongside this he familiarised himself with the various theories and academic findings in the area of “Q”.

Despite grave health problems and medical warnings which forced Peter to withdraw from his Ph.D. (Edinburgh), he quietly and very resolutely pursued his dream. Eventually he reached a point when his conclusions and method could be shared.

His elder brother, Stanley, came to England from Australia in October 2000 on a ‘farewell' visit. During five happy weeks he assisted Peter in preparing his research for publication. The work was submitted to "Colloquim ", an international journal based in Australia and specialising in academic theological work. It was accepted.

Not only has Peter's dream been realised but his achievement has received commendation from experts in the field.

'Off-prints' are now available from "Colloquim ".
